Supergrip have successfully completed the design of waterstop seals for an 8” x 14” NS pipe in pipe system. The upgraded seal design accommodated the fusion welded carrier pipe and a design pressure of only 12 bar.g. In addition to the waterstop seals provided, Supergrip were also engaged to supply 2-off bespoke pipeline isolation end caps.
The End Caps were a reusable design, which enabled the inner pipe to be pressurized a number of cycles during the spooling operation. The Caps were designed to suit a test pressure of 150 bar.g which resulted in the Cap having to withstand an axial force in excess of 55mT. Also incorporated was an inner pipe pressure and vent facility.

The Pipe End Caps themselves were designed specifically for the application. There were size limitations that were challenging during the design process. However our team have many years experience in providing bespoke subsea sealing solutions and we are delighted to say that the finished product worked perfectly. As with all of our projects we worked closely with our client during the execution phase. A full suite of documentation was provided including design reports, pre-production information, test procedures and test reports”
